I’ve been a fan of Colorpop cosmetics for a while now, their cheap prices and amazing formulas make them a hard cosmetic company to resist. When I was a little younger I would order loads of their liquid lipsticks to my Dad’s hotel every time he visited America for work, so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try out some of their other products now that I myself am living in Los Angeles (if you don’t follow me on Youtube, Instagram or Twitter you may not know that I recently moved to LA for the remainder of 2019 – I shall write a post on this soon!).
Let’s start with the main reason I was browsing the Colorpop website in the first place, that being Kathleen Lights new ‘So Jaded’ palette in collaboration with the brand. Up until now, I hadn’t had the opportunity to try any of Kathleen’s collaborations so I was very excited when she posted a video saying she was releasing this new one! If you don’t know who Kathleen is, then I’d highly suggest you go and search her on Youtube now. She was one of the first beauty YouTubers I ever watched, her talent for makeup along with her funny personality makes her a very easy watch!
As you can see, the ‘So Jaded’ palette has a huge collection of colours – 30 to be precise! What drew me to this palette was the collection of greens, blues, yellows, and burgundy shades. It’s fair to say my eyeshadow collection consists of a lot of nude, natural shades and whilst this palette definitely has those (I mean these are the shades that tie every look together), I am more excited about the slightly different shades – the shades turquoise and emerald in particular. I’m looking forward to trying out some different makeup looks than my usual nude eye with this palette.
The other thing that I love about this palette is the array of different finishes each of the shadows has, there are matte shades, shimmer shades and perhaps most excitingly it contains two glitters too! I tested the glitter shade Opal last weekend and found it was a great addition to layer on top of an existing eye look, taking a look from day to night!
The next item that caught my eye was this Jelly Much eyeshadow in the shade ‘Short Circuit.’ Before this order, I had only tried Colorpop’s Super Shock Shadows which are a unique formula themselves (I remember how everyone raved over their formula when they first came out), but the idea of a jelly eyeshadow intrigued me even more than the original Colorpop formula did.
The jelly formula feels and looks like a thick, wet mousse but dries down pretty quickly to a powder-like finish. However, because it originally is a liquid of sorts it contains a lot of pigment so you don’t need to faff around building colour up!
The final product I got was the Glisten Up Mist from Fourth Ray Beauty. I hadn’t heard of Fourth Ray before, but from what I can gather it seems to be Colorpop’s skincare range. What I love about this product so far is that it seems to be a hybrid between skincare and makeup – it contains Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, Camu Camu and White Tea, which all mean it will nourish, hydrate and sooth the skin! It also smells extremely orangey which I love! What leads me to call it a hybrid, however, is that not only do the ingredients boost radiance in the skin but the mist also contains micro-shimmer which helps to add to that overall glowy look that everyone wants to achieve!
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about my experience with the Colorpop products I picked up recently, leave a comment telling me what products you think I should try from Colorpop too as I’d love to know!
