Review: Boxycharm September 2019

October 7, 2019

boxycharm september

It would be fair to say that I love beauty products and am always excited to try new things out! That’s why I’m a fan of subscription beauty boxes, it means that once a month a host of products appears at your door and you don’t have to even search for them! Someone else has done all the work for you!

Unlike previous subscription boxes I’ve tried in the UK, Boxycharm send only full size products every month instead of the usual travel sizes that I’ve experienced before. This is what made me ultimately decide to subscribe to Boxycharm, over other boxes, as I know I’ll use full size products over travel size.

So, now that we’ve reached October let me tell you my thoughts on the items in my Boxycharm from September.

Becca Hyra Mist Powder review

Let’s start with my ‘free gift’ as a new customer. That being the Becca Hydra-mist Set & Refresh Powder. I tend to lean towards buying the same powder again and again, so I was excited to try a different brand and product out. I was very surprised, when using this powder for the first time, to find that it had an almost wet texture when it came in contact with the skin. I mean I should’ve guessed this might be the case from the name of the powder! However, after using it a few more times I have come to really love this sensation – especially in the LA heat! It also sets my makeup really well which I guess is the most important factor when it comes to a powder!

Boxycharm brushes

Next up is this five piece eye brush set from MODA. MODA is a brand I had never heard of before, and this is why I love beauty subscription boxes, these five brushes are duo fibre and extremely soft! I used these last weekend to do my eyeshadow before going out clubbing and have to say I really like them! They’re very much on par with Real Techniques so if you like their brushes then I’d definitely recommend trying them out!

Laura geller swirl illuminator

Next in my Boxycharm was this Baked Gellato Swirl Illuminator from Laura Geller. I’ve always wanted to try something from Laura Geller but have never actually got round to purchasing anything so I was very happy to see this in my box! Since getting this I’ve used it every time I’ve needed to use a highlighter, and I really like the look it creates. I usually pair it with Nar’s Orgasm blusher and a Dior bronzer (that I cannot locate the name of) for an extra glowly look!

dr brandt sleeping mask

Next up is Dr Brandt’s Hydro Biotic Recovery Sleeping Mask. I really like when beauty boxes include skincare, rather than just makeup. Especially as I think skincare is one of those things that you need to try to see if it works for you, and as it can very often be expensive it’s nice to try out new skincare products in a way like this!

Since moving to LA my skin has been really dry, so this mask’s claim that it ‘lock in moisture overnight’ sounded perfect! I also love overnight masks as I find it difficult to find the time during the day to do a face mask! The first time I used this mask I woke up with really soft skin, that definitely looked far more hydrated than it had the night before so this is another product I would highly recommend.

Another product in the box was this eyeliner from the brand Hank and Henry, another brand I had not heard of before. This eyeliner is a brush tip and is extremely pigmented. I’d liken it to the Kat Von D Tatto Liner which is one of my favourite makeup products of all time.

Violet Voss eyeshaow review

Finally, is this lovely Essentials Eyeshadow Palette from Violet Voss. Violet Voss is another brand that I have heard great things about but have never tried anything for myself. Although a palette of only ten shades, the range in colours is amazing and there are so many looks you can create with them! The shadows are pigmented and there’s a range of mattes and metallics so it is very versatile too!

Overall, I was really impressed with the selection of products I received in my first Boxycharm and am looking forward to October’s one!
