It’s that time again, I’ve tested out everything in my October Boxycharm and now I’m going to tell you my thoughts! Overall, I was impressed by the selection of products in this month’s box, however, there was one product I had some issues with so read ahead to see which one didn’t live up to my expectations!
Let’s start with my favourite product from the box! This Marvelous Mauves eyeshadow palette, from Dose of Colors, has become my go to palette for my everyday eyeshadow look. The colours are pigmented and the range of colours allows me to build up depth in my eye look. I really like using a dark eyeshadow as winged liner on a day to day basis and the darkest colour in this palette allows me to do just that! On the eye, the shades are more pink in tone than they appear in the pan but I really like this and shall be continuing to use it frequently!
Now for the product that disappointed me, at first glance this Iconic London lip gloss looks lovely! The shade is definitely a Katie shade and I was really excited to use this lip gloss, however, the packaging itself turned out to be faulty. The part of the tube that squeezes off excess gloss from the lipstick wand is completely missing and so it is far too messy to use!
At first, I was confused as I thought this is how the product was supposed to be, so I looked up some unboxing videos from this month’s box and found that it was just mine that was faulty. Due to this, I can tell you that Boxycharm has a really excellent customer service team who were beyond helpful, even when they didn’t have the product in stock to send a replacement straight away they kept me updated and assured me that I would be getting a replacement as soon as they have more in stock. My replacement was shipped a few days ago, so soon I shall be able to update you on what I actually think of the product itself!
Next up is the Elemis Superfood Vital Veggie Mask. The leaflet that comes with Boxycharm every month states that this mask, ‘nourishes, smooths, and brightens for softer, smoother, more radiant skin.’ I’ve used this mask once so far and can confirm that my skin definitely felt a lot smoother, even after just the first use! In actual fact, now I’m thinking about this mask, I will definitely be using it again this evening!
On a different note, but still skincare related, my skin has been super dry since I’ve been living in LA so if anyone has any recommendations on products that have helped your dry skin then please leave me a comment or send me a message on twitter!
We now have the Touch in Sol ‘Pretty Filter Glassy Skin Balm.’ First of all, I really like the texture of this priming cream, it’s extremely light but it makes my skin feel a lot smoother than before. Again, the leaflet describes this as a ‘sensationally smooth texture that melts into your skin and creates the ultimate glow that lasts throughout the day.’ I would agree that the texture does melt into the skin, it’s not sticky at all which obviously is a huge plus!
Our final product is this cosmetic sponge from Illuminati. First of all, I had not registered the name of this brand and now I’m extremely intrigued as to how they got the licensing to have a business under this name – I shall for sure be googling this as soon as I am done writing this blog post.
This makeup sponge is dense, but the right amount of squidgy to be able to apply foundation and concealer using it! Like most makeup sponges you can use this damp or dry. When it comes to makeup sponges, I’m not overly fussy and this is a good a sponge as any. However, at a regular price tag of $21.00, I think I’ll stick to some of the cheaper options such as the Real Techniques sponge!
I hope you have enjoyed reading my thoughts on the October 2019 Boxycharm, if you had a Boxycharm this month then let me know in the comments what products you got and what you thought of them!
